The purpose of this financial award is to help fund a future Black leader's education. Dr. Romeo B. Garrett was an outstanding leader and the university wants to give people that chance to make a name for themself and succeed. There is a whole committee that conducts the interviews and governs the selection process. This item is extremely important as it shows the long lasting impact of Dr. Garrett. He was a huge advocate of education, leadership, and diversity, and this scholarship reflects that.
